MEX-78 My first travel abroad as US citizen
Date of travel: Oct 28, 1978
ITINERARY:
A week after I received US citizenship I took a day trip by a bus to MEXICO south of San Diego. We visited the northern part of Baja California peninsula with cities Tijuana and Ensenada. Including lunch it cost $22.50, most likely my least expensive trip abroad.
Travel office: A local San Diego travel company.
Who took part: It was a full bus of American tourists.
MEX-79 A trip to the heart of Mexico
Date of travel: Nov 22 – Nov 25, 1979
ITINERARY:
A 4 day trip to MEXICO with sightseeing of Mexico City, Teotihuacan (with pyramids from Precolumbian times) and Taxco, where silver was mined.
Travel office: May Co. Travel in Carlsbad, CA and a local Mexico City travel company. We flew from San Diego to Mexico City and traveled by buses to Teotihuacan and Taxco with the local company.
Who took part: I traveled with my childhood friend Frank Z. (Aramis)
Yu-83 A journey to see what Mayas left in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico
Date of travel: Jan 1 – Jan 8, 1983
ITINERARY:
After driving my Ford-Mustang on Jan 1 100 miles from Vista to Los Angeles Airport (LAX), I am taking a plane via Monterrey and Cancun to Merida on Yucatan Peninsula in MEXICO. Between Jan 2 and Jan 8 we are visiting by bus Merida, Maya excavations as Uxmal, Kabah, Chichen Itza and Tulum and a tourist center Cancun. On Jan 8 we are flying via Monterrey back to LAX, from where I drive my Mustang to Vista.
Travel office: Club Universe (arranged for me by May Co. Travel in Carlsbad, CA). Accommodation in hotels.
Who took part: A group of 12 American tourists with a local guide.
PC-95 PANAMA CANAL TRIP
Date of travel: Feb 11 – Feb 25, 1995
ITINERARY:
Boarding the ship “Regent Sea” in San Diego harbor. Start sailing at 4:15 PM.
Two days sailing the Pacific Ocean south along the coast of Mexico.
MEXICO. – three day stops with sightseeing of Puerto Vallarta, Zihuatanejo and Acapulco.
Two days sailing the Pacific Ocean southeast along the coast of Central America.
COSTA RICA. – bus tour with view of active volcanoes to the capital San Jose and the craft center Sarchi.
