Montenegro 2005
SCM-05 - Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina trip Date of travel: May 26 - June 11, 2005 ITINERARY: On May 26 early flight from Prague to Zagreb, CROATIA, where I took a walk through the city. In the evening I met the smarTours group I would travel with. The following morning a sightseeing of Zagreb with the group and in the afternoon a bus ride to Lake Bled in nearby SLOVENIA. The day after a bus tour around Lake Bled and a visit to Bled Castle above the lake. Later a boat ride on the Lake Bled with a visit of its island and bus ride to Lake Bohinj. On May 29 we drive to the Slovenia capital Ljubljana for its sightseeing. In the afternoon a visit to Pastojna Jama (the second biggest cave in Evrope) and by evening we arrive to Opatija in Croatia. On May 30 trip from Opatija through Istria Peninsula (visiting Pula, Rovinj and Porec). The day after is free and I take a local bus to visit the city of Rijeka. Then we go by bus to Plitvice Lakes. In its vicinity we see burned villages mined areas after the recent Jugoslavian war. That is followed by bus ride to cities Zadar, Trogir and Split. In the morning on June 1 we explore Split (Palace of Emperor Diocletian), while in the afternoon we drive via Makarska to Dubrovnik. Here we stay 4 nights to do the sightseeing of the fortified old town with the group and by ourselves and a day trip to MONTENEGRO (visiting Bay of Kotor, Kotor, an old capital Centinje and Budva). On June 7 I leave the group, which is on its way home, and take a local bus from Dubrovnik to BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA to visit Mostar and its capital Sarajevo. Later I take a bus to Banja Luka, which is a capital of Republica Serbska a part of Bosnia Herzegovina. After 3 days in Bosnia Herzegovina I take a bus from Banja Luka to Zagreb, Croatia, where overnight. On June 11 a fly from Zagreb back to Prague. Travel office: smarTours (an American travel company) and some local travel companies in Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina to arrange hotels for me in Bosnia Herzegovina and the last night in Zagreb. Who took part: There were 40 travelers mostly from North America, the Croatian leader from smarTours, few local guides and a bus driver. In Bosnia Herzegovina I traveled alone.
