Flight from Los Angeles with Korean Airlines via Honolulu to 
SOUTH KOREA: (2.5 days: Sightseeing of Seoul both with the tour and also individually, from a hill look in to North Korea, temperatures during the visit between -4 st. to 0 st.C), flight to
TAIWAN: (2 days: sightseeing of the capital Taipei, local flight to and from Hualien, a town built mostly from marble, with sightseeing of 20 km long Taroko Gorge cut by a river from a marble mountain, meeting Ami people, the original inhabitants of Taiwan), flight to
HONG KONG: (4 days: sightseeing of Hong Kong Island including its Victoria Peak and the “water people” living on boats in Aberdeen harbor, sightseeing of Kowloon and New Territories, which are the continental part of Hong Kong), flight to
THAILAND: (3 days: sightseeing of Bangkok, boat ride on a river and canals, bus tour of various watts, monasteries, around the city), flight to
SINGAPORE: (1/2 day: only over night), flight to
INDONESIA: (1.5 day on the island of Bali, very good evening show of Kechak dance, a day tour around this Hindu island with many interesting stops including one at an active volcano), flight via Hong Kong to
PHILIPPINES: (1.5 days: sightseeing of Manila the capital, then the active Taal Volcano 70 km from the city, which rises from the middle of a lake), flight via Taipei, Seoul and Honolulu to Los Angeles.

IA-80    INSIDE ASIA TRIP
Date of travel:  Nov 11  -  Dec 14, 1980

ITINERARY:  
Flight from Los Angeles via San Francisco, Honolulu, Manila to 
SINGAPORE: (3.5 days: sightseeing of Singapore Island both with the tour
and individually with visit to an art gallery, botanical gardens and under heavy machinery vanishing Chinatown, a half a day sailing on a Chinese junk to 
a small island off Singapore), 
MALAYSIA: (one afternoon visit to Johor Baru from the Singapore Island),     flight from Singapore to 
SRI LANKA: (2 days: with a day trip from Colombo to Kandy in the heart of the island and another day trip from Colombo along the shore to Bentota Beach Resort), flight to 
INDIA: (9 days with flights between cities: sightseeing Madras with a trip to rock carvings from around 700 AD in Mahabalipuram, sightseeing Bombay and a boat trip to Elephanta Island with caves and carvings from 450 to 750 AD, Srinagar in Kashmir with a night in a houseboat on Lake Dal, sightseeing Delhi with Indian largest mosque Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Rajghat, place where Ghandi was cremated, sightseeing Jaipur with a night in a maharaja palace and an elephant ride to Amber Fort, Agra with Taj Mahal, Red Fort and a bus trip to Fatehpur Sikri built by Mughal Emperor Akbar as his new capital, but it was soon abandoned, sightseeing Benares now Varanasi with a boat ride on the Hindu holy Ganges River), flight to 
NEPAL: (3 days: sightseeing the capital Katmandu, the most colorful city Patan and a trip to a view of Mt. Everest), flight via Calcutta to 
THAILAND: (2 days: Bangkok and individually to the Bridge on the River Kwai), flight to 
HONG KONG: (3 days: sightseeing of Hong Kong Island with the tour and also individually, sunset cruise at the island, at this trip Hong Kong was still British)  
MACAU (an individual day visit by hydrofoil from Hong Kong to this 65 km distant oldest Portuguese colony, where the Chinese like to go gambling), flight to PHILIPPINES (not on itinerary, but for broken plane one day stopover in Manila with an individual visit of the old town),  
flight via Honolulu and San Francisco to Los Angeles.
